Along with that, it increases the ability to get into corners well and improves the accuracy in driving. The main reason that disc brakes work better, however, is their design. Unlike the drum brakes, they rub against the disc or rotor, which is exposed to the air and can bleed off heat faster than any drum. Therefore, getting rid of the head faster makes it better and therefore able to stop a car faster.
At last, the disc brakes also resist the problems with water. In fact, since they are exposed to a light press of the pads against the rotor - they get rid of most of the water and ensure fast stopping.
